Business Development Engineer

Overview

The Business Development Engineer at Theorylight plays a crucial role in driving the growth of the company by identifying new business opportunities, expanding customer relationships, and developing strategic partnerships within the lighting control and intelligent building systems industry. This role combines technical expertise with strong business acumen, allowing the successful candidate to generate sales, provide expert guidance on lighting control systems, IOT, and deliver tailored solutions to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, focusing on lighting control systems and related smart building technologies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including specifiers, integrators, customers, and strategic partners.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to define go-to-market strategies and drive revenue growth.
  • Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations for prospective customers, showcasing the value and capabilities of Theory Light’s lighting control systems.
  • Assist customers in understanding technical specifications, system designs, and integration processes for lighting control products.
  • Stay informed on market trends, industry standards, and emerging technologies in lighting controls and smart building solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product management teams to ensure customer requirements are met and new solutions are aligned with market demands.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical sales documentation, proposals, and competitive analyses.
  • Participate in trade shows, industry events, and networking opportunities to promote Theory Light’s offerings and expand its presence in the market.
  • Work with internal teams to coordinate customer feedback and inform product development efforts.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field with proved Experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the lighting controls, IoT, or smart building industry.
  • Strong understanding of lighting control systems, intelligent building technologies, and related IT and networking standards.
  • Proven track record of developing new business and driving sales growth in a technical field.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within Pan-India and internationally, as required.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently to meet sales targets and business objectives.
